May 3rd – Seaplane tour
I was debating in my head for a few days about whether I should do the 20 min seaplane tour, which was not cheap (like $200). But hey you only live once I figure. So I decided to do it and headed out there. I was pretty thrilled at first to find out that I would get to ride shotgun (at the front of the controls) on the plane. The pilot was a pretty cool guy, he’s been flying for about 10 years mostly in Tofino. As we fly around clayoquot sound, the view was very beautiful with the clear blue-green water, the mud flats visible underneath the water, small green islands popping out, beautiful sandy beaches and the lush green mountains. We also flew by two bald eagles in the air, which was pretty cool.
Unfortunately, I got air sick halfway into the flight (thank god it was only 20 mins lol). I was happy when we landed because it took me a few hours to recovery from feeling motion sickness (I had to take a nap). I kept telling myself in the air to not puke.
After my nap I decided to talk a stroll on Combers Beach, which was pretty refreshing. As I drove back I stopped at Middle Beach to take a few pics. Also back at the hostel I took a picture of the view of the waterfront from my hostel. It’s a pretty nice view with lone cone mountain looming in front of you. Also I should mention that the Tofino hostel overall was pretty nice and clean. One of the nicest ones I’ve been to, maybe the second best.
